The Final Adventure
You have sufficiently done it all. You’ve worked enough for several lifetimes and suffered the losses of generations, but it has all been worth it. Any goal the party has had is accomplished thoroughly. Everyone’s level 20 and has 7 magic items of any kind (only 1 legendary each) and whatever else they can afford (which is a ton). But this power doesn’t make a person completely invulnerable to threat, just mostly, and any force that wants to attack them has to bypass all of their individual defenses. That’s the goal of Baphomet who wants these powerful mortals in his maze to fight for his entertainment.
Plot Overview
To weaken the party for capture the demon lord sends a child of his and a servant of his (the Molydeus with a glaive and a bull head along with a Balor who fly or run over to the party to attack them from above). When they die a Planetar paladin comes down from the sky to warn the party just too late about the massive demon threat!
Since they already seem to know about the demons the angel informs them “that they are coming from an Abyssal rift in the Lake of Steam and my lord Tempus has decided to send down his blessings to the mightiest heroes on the continent so they can end this threat, so he doesn’t have to” (each party member gains an Epic Boon of their choice). After bestowing this the angel teleports the party directly in front of the 30-foot Gate that rests in the drained lake, surrounded by the blasted and destroyed wreckage of the kingdoms.
Since the Gate is immune to dispel magic, the party is left with no choice but to cross the portal into Baphomet’s labyrinth followed by the angel. Then the Demon Lord’s voice booms across the realm about “new prey finally entering the arena of all arenas!!!” as the Gate closes leaving the party lost in the Endless Maze.
The maze has been trapped by a Goristro, Minotaur, Bulezaus, and Darkerex, the Adult White Dragon Baphomet has tamed, and actual traps (the Planetar will most likely die at some point). At the likely demise of the angel the demon prince believes that the party’s spirit has been broken and he will allow the maze to lead into his tower, Lyktion, to “break your minds and warp you into slaves!” and a fight will ensue
Baphomet uses his Teleport spell to bring in the dragon (Darkerex) if he isn’t dead or an Ancient Black Dragon if he is and not to save himself from the adventurers due to his arrogance which will prove his undoing. Killing Baphomet doesn’t immediately destabilize his realm, but it does leave Lyktion available for plunder (or residence as it is a very large palace) and the party gains the most treasure they’ve ever seen in one place!
Now that Baphomet and his son are dealt with the party can leave the plane in regular ways and when they do the Pale Night, Mother of Demons, will slip into the layer and claim it as her own. Now owing the party a secret favor that she plans on repaying in their times of need.
